Changelog
2.0.1 — October 2026
- The XPath in the status bar is shown correctly (the leading "/" was drawn at the end).
- Text search highlights the row also when the match is inside a short element shown on one line.
- Dark theme: scrollbars follow the theme.
2.0 — October 2026
A complete rewrite, built from scratch. It keeps the add-on id, so existing users get it as an update.
Fixed (reported in reviews)
- XML is detected by content type. URLs without
.xml,application/*+xmltypes, and XML served as octet-stream or text/plain all open in the viewer. - No more "invalid XML" or blank pages on valid documents. Errors show the line and column, and HTML entities are tolerated.
- The 200-line limit is gone. Large documents open quickly.
- XPath works, including prefixes, default namespaces and value results.
- Non-English characters show correctly. The encoding comes from the BOM, the HTTP charset or the XML declaration.
- No console messages on websites.
- Light theme, alongside dark and automatic.
- Context menu: view a selection, a link or the page as XML.
- Public source code (MIT).
New
- Manifest V3. Works on Firefox for Android (1.x was capped at Firefox 68).
- Reader view for RSS and Atom.
- Virtualised, syntax-highlighted source view, pretty-printed or original.
- Node details: XPath, namespace, attributes; copy as XPath, XML, text or JSON.
- Export as XML, minified XML or JSON.
- Viewer page: paste XML, open or drop a file, open a URL.
- View original page and View styled (XSLT).
- Settings: detection, theme, text size, indentation, tree depth, wrapping.
Removed
- jQuery and vkbeautify. The add-on contains no third-party code.
